Gold’s Gym Celebrates Its 60th Anniversary
With over 600 branches worldwide, the legendary Gold’s Gym, one of the most established and powerful representatives of the fitness industry, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The very first Gold’s Gym was founded by Joe Gold in August 1965 in Venice Beach, California, USA. From its earliest days, the gym became a sought-after destination for bodybuilders and young people aspiring to improve their health and physique. By the 1980s, it had earned the title “Mecca of Bodybuilding.” It was one of the very first and largest gyms during the birth of bodybuilding culture. Icons such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, and Franco Columbu trained at Gold’s Gym, which played a major role in its worldwide fame. Over the years, world champion bodybuilders and Hollywood stars including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Alba, and Sam Sulek have been associated with Gold’s Gym, further cementing its reputation. In August 2025, Gold’s Gym proudly marked its historic 60th anniversary with global celebrations. In Mongolia, Ikh Uils Ulemj LLC, the official franchise holder of Gold’s Gym since 2016, commemorated this milestone together with its members. The celebration featured member-focused promotions, community events, and competitions.
